HARRISBURG — An Altoona attorney is being disbarred for an unspecified reason, based on a notice issued Wednesday by the The Disciplinary Board of the state Supreme Court.
Attorney Michael B. Cohen, 521 S. Logan Blvd., was disbarred “on consent” after his submission of a resignation statement, resulting in the order filed Wednesday with the Supreme Court’s chief clerk.
The Mirror, seeking further explanation of the action, contacted Cohen’s office by phone and sent an email to his law office account but received no responses.
The disbarment goes into effect on April 7, reflecting what has been the Disciplinary Board’s practice of allowing 30 days for the disbarred attorneys to wrap up their practice.
Cohen, who was admitted to the state bar in October 2010, has practiced in Blair County as a sole practitioner since March 2011. Online information shows his practice concentrating on securities law, family law, criminal defense work, estate planning, workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability and personal injury law.
