TULSA, Okla. — Tedford Insurance has been named the 2022 Family-Owned Small Business of the Year.
“I was really excited to win the award,” said owner and CEO Mark Tedford.
In 1978, George and Kay Tedford founded Tedford Insurance as an independent insurance brokerage with the goal of offering insurance coverage to the hard-working people in local communities.
In 2004, George passed away and left his legacy to his 3 sons.
One of his sons, Mark Tedford, was appointed the 2nd generation owner and CEO.
“It is important to me to be a family business, behind the 2nd generation,” said Mark Tedford. “Now my son Landon is the 3rd generation.”
Mark Tedford is also the Oklahoma State Representative, District #69, and believes business owners significantly impact the Capitol.
“I think business owners bring a different perspective to the Capitol,” said Tedford. Dealing with all the vagaries and trials with having to make the business go and be successful.”
Tedford is greatly appreciative of the staff that has worked for Tedford Insurance and the impact that they have made.
“This one is for the staff. I could not do what I do at the Capitol and business without them,” said Tedford. “I heavily rely on my staff.”
Since its founding, Tedford Insurance has expanded to 8 locations around Oklahoma with 75 employees.
